NAIP Meet with IHF on insurance

The National Association of Irish Photographers have been in discussions with the Irish Hotels Federation about insurance for sometime now. It has resulted in a memo being sent from the federation to all members. A press release (unedited) concerning same from the NAIP is attached. Dublin Architects O’Donnell + Tuomey at centre of copyright abuse claim

Dublin Architects O'Donnell + Tuomey have found themselves at the centre of a copyright controversy as a result of claims made by Canadian street photographer John Goldsmith.

On thursday I had the great pleasure of chatting with photographer Steve McCurry. Steve was in Dublin to give a talk on his work at the Gallery of Photography where his current exhibition Worlds of Colour is running until the 24th of April. Arthur Carron from Dundalk Photographic Society has been awarded ‘Best Overall Image’ for his image ‘Stare’ at the Irish Photographic Finals National Print and Projected Image Finals, in association with Epson Ireland. The same image also won him first place in the ‘Best Monochrome Print’ category.

Freelance photographer Kenneth O'Halloran ended a very good 7 days with 4 more AIB Photojournalism Awards. He was named 2nd prize winner for an image of Brian Power and his family. In the Portrait Category he scored a hat trick landing 1st, 2nd and 3rd. Just last week Kenneth was one of three Irish photographers who had success at the World Press Awards.
