New adventures at the Circle of Confusion

Irish landscape photographers Peter Cox and Neil McShane are working on the first full episode of a landscape photography tutorial video series to be launched in early December. They've formed a video production company with documentary photographer Roger Overall called The Circle of Confusion Ltd to produce the series.

Acclaimed Irish photographer Podge Kelly will host a Nik Software Webinar on December 6th. The webinar is aimed at photographers and digital artists with knowledge in Photoshop and will demonstrate how Nik Software has expanded Podge's creativity.

It is with pleasure that the IPPA annouce that Donal Murphy FIPPA has achieved his Master QEP from the Federation of European Photographers in the discipline of Architectural Photography. Donal is now the 4th IPPA member to have been awarded this prestigious title and 2nd in the field of Architectural Photography.
Lindberg succeeds in complaint against PPAI

Press Photographer Barbara Lindberg has successfully brought a complaint to the Equality Tribunal against the Press Photographers Association of Ireland.
Equality Officer Elaine Cassidy ordered that the PPAI offer Ms Lindberg membership of the association and pay the photographer 1000 euro "for upset and humiliation suffered as a result of the discrimination." This week's frame comes from multi award winning photographer James Horan. It is a portrait of Danielle Ryan {daughter of Cathal Ryan ,co-founder of Ryanair} photographed for the New York Times at the site of the Lir Theatre, Dublin. Danielle conceived (and partly financed) the new National Academy of Dramatic Art at Trinity College Dublin where classes started in Sept 2011.

A new record price for a photograph has been set at 4.3 ml dollars. The photograph "Rhein II" was created in 1999 by German photographer Andreas Gursky and was sold at an action in New York earlier this month. Tell us what you think of the image?

Mac Sweeney’s PhotoShop (Cork) in Liquidation

Following a creditors meeting this morning Mac Sweeney's PhotoShop in Cork has gone into liquidation. They closed their doors yesterday. The MacSweeny Name has been in the photography business selling cameras and processing film since 1916, having had the first black and white processing lab in Ireland . Denis MacSweeny Photoshop has been operating in Cork since 1990.
Connaught Rugby Calendar for Cope Galway – Friday Frame # 7

This week's Friday Frame is the front cover of the Connacht Rugby calendar. It was an idea Clare O'Regan, of Core Photography, came up with two years ago as her love from rugby blossomed and her photographic work with Cope Galway increased.
Cope Galway is a crisis homeless charity based in Galway .They help the homeless, victims of domestic violence and provide meals on wheels.
