"Solar Energy Versus Fossil Fuel"by Irish Photographer Dave Walsh has received a "Highly Commended" in the "Changing Climates" category at the 2009 Environmental Photographer of the Year competition. The photograph, along with the other winners, has been featured on The Guardian website and The Daily Telegraph and The Independent, and will be on exhibition for the next 12 months around Britain and Ireland.

The aim of the competition is to help promote the photographic profession and to raise the level of professional standards. It is also intended to give just recognition to those who work in this sector according to the highest levels of quality and professionalism. The competition is a non-profit event and all fees collected will be used to promote the FEP and the FEP member associations.

Grand Prix, individual exhibitions presented in the unique, postindustrial halls of Art Center, is one of the most important parts of Fotofestiwal. Each year, from the projects submitted by artists from all around the world, they choose 10-12 exhibitions which have not been presented in Poland yet. All photographers are welcome to send them their works. There are no restrictions concerning the subject, technique or number of photographs.
