Insurance for Photographers

Before you commit to hiring a photographer it is wise to confirm their insurance status. This shouldn't be a big deal but it is worth doing. Remember having insurance is no reason to hire a photographer and having no insurance is a reason not to hire one. Steve was in Dublin to give a talk on his work at the Gallery of Photography where his current exhibition Worlds of Colour is running until the 24th of April. I must start by stating that all the images individually are worthy winners and the photographers who collected an award at the AIB PPAI Photojournalism Awards are excellent photographers - but I do question the range of images that were selected for the travelling exhibition. I like photographers who try different things so when I read that Bray based photographer Mark Harrison was shooting images on a Canon digital camera that he had converted to photograph in the Infra Red Spectrum I had to met him, look at the camera and see some of the images he was producing.

Civil Partnership weddings – Are you prepared?

Although the Civil Partnership Act has been passed it has not yet been enacted into law. This is likely to happen in 2011. There are many couples here and overseas planning their civil ceremony in Ireland in anticipation of the enactment of the Law. Last Friday I went into the premises of Inspirational Arts for the announcement of the winner of the 2010 Inspirational Arts Photography Award. Unfortunately I couldn't stay till all the formalities were completed but I gathered enough to make this short little video which will introduce the new premises, the shortlisted artists and the winner.
