Fergus and David McGinn have just opened McGinn’s on the Quay, Galway Harbour, (formerly Sheridans) as a new restaurant, bar and exhibition space. The opening exhibition “Tube Dwellers and Others” is by internationally acclaimed corporate photographer, Neil Warner.
Although he has a name in mainland Europe for his Fine Art photography, Neil has never shown his fine art Photo/Graphics in Ireland. A previous joint winner of the Towergate Fine Art Award, Europe’s premier bursary for Fine Art photographers, Neil has also been British Landscape/Travel Photographer of the Year.
In Ireland his commercial work has won him the title Irish Commercial Photographer of the Year on three occasions; the only photographer ever to have won the award more than once.
His exhibition “Tube Dwellers and Others” is a sampler from his vast collection of fine art imagery. In these images, Neil has withdrawn detail from the images, reducing them to their basic core. His imagery is bold, stark and colourful. On the other hand, his collection “Dark Connemara” is a series of monochrome images which capture the dark brooding light and cloudscapes of Connemara. Most of his images in “Dark Connemara” were shot within 10 kms radius of Leenane and centre around the shores of Killary Harbour.
