On February 2nd the exhibition The West with works by Ric O’Reilly was opened by the Minister for Agriculture and Food, Ms. Mary Coughlan TD. Ric O’Reilly’s works are on display at the only photo-gallery outside Dublin, Man-made Images in Mountcharles, Co. Donegal.
The exhibition The West explores the similarity in ‘feel’ between the western sides of Britain, Ireland and the U.S.A., whether it is caused by remoteness from the seats of government, from the financial heart of that country or harsher climatic conditions. In addition this might lead to an individuality of spirit not often found in a country’s capitol.
Ric O’Reilly’s images are often heavily re-worked on computers to arrive at the mood a particular place or object conveys to him. Ric prints on a special kind of paper, Hahnemühle Fine Art Inkjet Paper, which has a lifespan of 200 years!
The exhibition The West will run now till the first week of May 2007.
